Bookkeeper / Accounts Payable Specialist

POSITION DETAILS

We’re looking for a Bookkeeper / Accounts Payable Specialist with QuickBooks experience to join our small, dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone who values accuracy and organization, enjoys working collaboratively, and wants to contribute to a caring, community-oriented workplace.

You’ll be responsible for managing invoices, vendor payments, payroll, and account reconciliations—all essential pieces that help keep our organization running smoothly and sustainably.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Invoice Processing

• Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into QuickBooks with care and accuracy.

• Verify details for compliance and follow up on any discrepancies.

Payment Management

• Prepare and process timely vendor payments by check, ACH, or other electronic methods.

• Maintain organized and accessible digital records of all financial transactions.

Payroll

• Process full-cycle payroll in compliance with federal and provincial regulations.

• Maintain employee data (new hires, changes, terminations, ROEs, and group insurance updates).

• Review and reconcile payroll reports, including deductions and tax filings.

• Respond to payroll-related questions with professionalism and care.

Reconciliation & Reporting

• Reconcile vendor statements and the accounts payable ledger to ensure accuracy.

• Support the finance team with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations.

Vendor Communication

• Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors.

• Respond to inquiries promptly and collaborate with internal team members to resolve payment issues.

Roles and Responsibilities  

• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable or bookkeeping; payroll experience is an asset.

• QuickBooks Proficiency: Essential—comfortable managing daily financial tasks within QuickBooks.

• Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools.

• Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of accounts payable processes, general ledger management, and basic accounting principles.

• Attention to Detail: Careful and precise in data entry, invoice review, and reconciliation.

• Organizational Skills: Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and keep financial records in excellent order.

• Communication & Teamwork: Clear communicator with a collaborative spirit and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Location: This position is Remote, but Rowan Tree Children’s School operates out of 780 Argyle Street (The Village on Argyle), Peterborough.

Early Childhood Educator - Occasional Work

POSITION DETAILS

This position is on an “On Call” basis, where the substitute is needed sometimes on very short notice.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Registered Early Childhood Educator certification or Waldorf Early Childhood Educator certification required

• Teaching experience in either a child care or early childhood setting

• First Aid and CPR certification is up-to-date or willing to obtain

• Clear Vulnerable Sector Check

• Be flexible and adaptable to new situations

• Ability to use good judgment, self management and effective problem-solving skills 

Roles and Responsibilities  

Each employee is responsible for exhibiting good communication, problem solving and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive attitude. In collaboration with Rowan Tree Children’s School’s administrative staff and faculty:

• Create a nurturing environment for young children and families

• Follow classroom program, curriculum and schedules to ensure pedagogically and developmentally appropriate practices

• Abide by licensing regulations

• Work collaboratively and professionally with other early childhood teachers to establish a cohesive early childhood community

• Work collaboratively and professionally with school administration
