1:1 Educational Assistant
Rowan Tree Children’s School is seeking an Educational Assistant for a position beginning September 8, 2026.
POSITION DETAILS
The 1:1 Educational Assistant will work closely with the classroom teacher to implement individualized strategies, foster a positive learning experience, and help the student engage socially, emotionally, and academically.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Child and Youth Worker Diploma, D.S.W., E.C.E. or E.A. Diploma OR a 2 year College Diploma or University Degree, plus experience working with elementary or secondary age students or individuals with special needs and/or behavioural difficulties
Current Police Check, including the Vulnerable Sector Check
First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to create a warm, gentle, and supportive environment.
Ability to respond with patience, flexibility, and empathy in a dynamic classroom environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, colleagues and parents
Understanding of child development and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide direct, individualized support to the assigned student throughout the school day.
Implement strategies outlined in the student’s learning plan, IEP, or support plan under teacher direction.
Assist with transitions, classroom routines, and participation in activities both indoors and outdoors.
Support the student in developing independence, problem-solving skills, and positive relationships with peers.
Promote inclusion by facilitating the student’s engagement in group activities.
Observe and track the student’s progress, noting areas of success and challenges to share with the teacher and support team.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures at all times.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, the Education Director and administrators to ensure a consistent approach to the student’s success.

Work Schedule / Compensation
8:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Thursday
This position will be paid on an hourly basis at a rate of $25 per hour, for 28 hours / week.

Early Childhood Educator - Occasional Work
POSITION DETAILS
This position is on an “On Call” basis, where the substitute is needed sometimes on very short notice.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Registered Early Childhood Educator certification or Waldorf Early Childhood Educator certification required
Teaching experience in either a child care or early childhood setting
First Aid and CPR certification is up-to-date or willing to obtain
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Be flexible and adaptable to new situations
Ability to use good judgment, self management and effective problem-solving skills
Roles and Responsibilities
Each employee is responsible for exhibiting good communication, problem solving and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive attitude. In collaboration with Rowan Tree Children’s School’s administrative staff and faculty:
Create a nurturing environment for young children and families
Follow classroom program, curriculum and schedules to ensure pedagogically and developmentally appropriate practices
Abide by licensing regulations
Work collaboratively and professionally with other early childhood teachers to establish a cohesive early childhood community
Work collaboratively and professionally with school administration
